Khe-Yo - Good food, but...

edwardspk | Oct 5, 201306:32 PM

Ate at Khe-Yo for the first time tonight. Had papaya salad, chili prawns, whole black bass amd pork and shrimp crispy rolls. The food was fine, as was the service. What was not fine was the out of control children sitting next to us. These kids were under 5 years old and out on Saturday night after 8. While I have no issue with that if the children are well-behaved, these kids were out of control and neither their parents nor management were doing anything about it. Loud voices and fighting over food is not what I expect 2 feet from me at a restaurant like this. (if you have a British accent and 2 young boys and were eating here tonight, yes I'm, talking about you!).

When we complained to our server, the manager was nice enough to bring us a comp dessert as well as 2 comp cocktails. He clearly had noticed the children were a problem. While he was very apologetic, he said the parents were regulars and he was afraid of offending them and didn't want to ask them to do something about the kids' behavior. So he made a note on our reservation - as if WE were the offending party.

So while to a certain extent the situation was partially handled correctly, I am not predisposed to go back. If you're looking for a family-friendly alternative to Otto, replete with high chairs and wailing kids, this might be your place. But if you're looking for something a little more trendy and fashionanable, you might want to look elsewhere.
