Khana Khanaza Express (downtown Oakland)

Merle | Aug 30, 200404:23 PM

Just had the lunch buffet at Khana Khazana in Emeryville (near 43rd and San Pablo), and I asked the cashier about the similarly named "Express" location in downtown Oakland.

"Oh yes", he said. "We opened that up about three months ago.". So it is related, to answer whoever was asking about it.

It is down 19th between Franklin and Webster. It is a tiny hole in the wall with only a small number of items. Then again, the main Khana Khazana buffet only has four dishes (plus about ten accoutrements). If you like what they serve, the heavily seasoned dishes may well be worth the lack of variety.

I have not tried the Express location yet, but will try to do so.

Oh, and "Ma's Roti Shop" (which is really named something else like Happy Family) has been closed for the last week. There is a help wanted sign in the window looking for a cook/chef. Since it has only been the one lady working there for years, this means to me that it will be a new restaurant when or if a cook is located.
