I missed 2 flights in as many days, thereby really screwing up my eating plans for this visit to Chicago.
Ended up staying only one night, and really only having time for one dinner, which I decided would be the chicken boti at Khan's BBQ on Devon. I was working in Des Plaines at the Lutheran Hospital, so it wasn't all that far. Only problem is, as I was jamming my car into the only parking spot around, I realized that folks were probably breaking their fast right at that moment. Sure enough, the place was slammed with dudes just scarfing down food. Not even the slightest chance at a seat - standing room only, and even that was slim. Holy crap, this place must be good. And it was ! I've never really been a fan of chicken boti, but this one has stronger flavors that are far more interesting than what I have been accustomed to. This is a solid recommendation.
Grabbed a mango lassi from some small shop nearby which was very tasty and obviously made with some good homemade yogurt (just like my mama makes!)
I *really* wanted to stop by that Riviera Italian imported food place (N. Harlem?) and pick up a sandwich to either bring to work or bring to the airport, but I never found such time. Hell, I had plans to go to get my pupusas too, no chance for that either.
Good news is that I'll be back this Sunday and flying out on Tuesday. Will be working in Oak Park, staying downtown, and driving pretty much anywhere for food. These frequent trips are fun - you guys got a great eating town.
