A year ago, fate landed me in the middle of Pasadena's Armenian neighborhood. For breakfast, I indulged in a Georgian-Armenian khachapuri enjoyed outside at a sidewalk cafe table on a blue sky day. The baked-to-order bread boat is filled with a hot mass of salty small cheese curd (feta and mozzarella blend) and a runny-yolked egg. A piece of bare bread torn from the ends dragged through that molten middle and rich yolk was a mouthful from the heavens.
However, skip the baklava, as there's better to be had in the neighborhood.
