Low-key wine bars in SF - myth or reality?

I just moved back to SF after 2 years in New York, and am looking for a nice, laid back wine bar with a smart staff and a good selection of reasonably priced wines. Now, I know what you're thinking: who wouldn't want to find a place like that and go there all the time? I've been wondering the same thing since my return.

There is a great little wine bar that I used to frequent on Lafayette St. in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn (Stonehome, if anyone knows it, or happens to be in that neighborhood sometime) that fit these criteria pretty nicely, and I'd love to find something like it back home here in SF.

Now, I don't want to get into the NYC vs. SF thing, but given our proximity to where the stuff is made, I'd think that there'd be a good range of places in which to comfortably sip it.

I remember one place on Rose Street just off Market near Franklin that perhaps fits the bill - anyone been there of late? Other suggestions, comments would be most welcome. I've also done my homework and read some of the other posts, but haven't found much up-to-date info.

Thanks, and let's make this a fruitful discussion. Booo.
