Key Lime Pie filling

I have about one cup of key lime pie filling in the fridge from 2 days ago. It was made with 3 egg yolks, sweet condensed milk, etc., but I never cooked it. Does it need to be cooked before I use it as a filling for an already baked cake? If so, how to cook?
