The Kettle in Manhattan Beach

I had never been the The Kettle before and my bf had only been once and that was for dessert. We decided to give it a try this evening. I wasn't expecting great, gourmet food or anything but I was rather disappointed. I wasnt in the mood for any entree with I just decided to get a few side dishes. I got the mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and sauteed spinach. All 3 dishes were luke warm...if that. The spinach was too watery, the mac and cheese was krafts and the mashed potatoes, well, there were just nothing special about them. The bf got a ravioli dish...he had a choice of soup or salad and he chose the french onion soup, which was very good and it was actually warm. The ravioli was just bland and luke warm....the ingredients inside the ravioli was even less warm. So, the only way we will be going back will be to have the french onion soup. The service was fine too. I didnt have to ask for refills on my diet coke. I am not sure if the service is usually good, or if it was because it wasnt very busy there. Anyway, that is my take on The Kettle.
