Kerbisher & Malt, Shepherd's Bush/Hammersmith, London

A decisive and solid crunch in the carapace of batter, with its layer of softness just over the moist fish, a hunk of cod, clean tasting, with firm fibres, flaking occasionally smallish pieces, and bearing a nice resilient quality. A slight oiliness throughout; the oil wasn't super fresh but wasn't tired by any means.

Chips are ok, lightly crisp on the surface, the interiors occasionally a little mealy but nothing bad. Similar slight oiliness.

Pretty good on the whole, although I prefer the Golden Hind for the quality of their deep frying.
