KCAL 9 Top 9 Lunches

madonna | Jun 15, 200512:30 PM

I was just watching tonight on KCAL-9 "On the Town" special. They picked the top 9 LA places to have lunch. I have posted the link. Anyways, during the report the hosts of the show were reporting from a large restaurant that was tropical; Trader Vic kind of place with waterfalls and bamboo and foliage everywhere. As they were reporting, they got in a Cafeteria line and there were rows of glasses Cafeteria style with ice blended looking fruity drinks. The trays looked asian almost like a bento box and the food looked Pan-Asian.

It really had me intrigued. Where is this place? I waited to hear where it was. Then, at the end they said ,"We would like to thank Clifton's for letting us film this program here..." Now I am really confused. As far as I have heard Clifton's looks nothing like that. I have never been, but I have heard that it has a really woodsy motif and the food is just American comfort food like Macaroni and Cheese.

I looked it up on the internet and still have not figured it out. It says on the website that their used to be a Polynesian Style Clifton's called Pacific Clifton's but it closed in 1960. This show was filmed last week, so obviously that is not the answer. I missed the first 15 minutes of the show, so I am thinking I missed something here.
