KC - Are Kids and Good Food Mutually Exclusive!?!

There was a recent article in KC Magazine called "Family Dining With Kids" (January 2008). Their suggestions for eating out well with your kids? Crayola Cafe, Rain Forest Cafe, T-Rex Cafe, Fritz's, Papa Keno's and Avelluto's Italian Delight.

Bleck.

Call me "Snobby Food Mom" if you must, but if I'm stuck with these choices, I think I'd rather go hungry. I'm a mom who also loves fine food, and I believe they've missed a few great choices that are not chains, pizza, or pasta.

Aixois is a confirmed kid-friendly place (every time I visit, there's one or more kids there) and has the best quiche I've ever experienced. And my family enjoys Bluebird Bistro - especially breakfast (the fresh blueberry pancakes are a big hit with my son!). And I've never entered an Indian nor Chinese restaurant where the kids are not welcomed, if not adored. Our favorite local choices are Korma Sutra for Indian and Boling's for Chinese.

If you must have pizza, make it Waldo Pizza. With tabletop video games and Trivial Pursuit cards at the table, the time flies until the pizza arrives and when it does, it's delicious (and no annoying stuffed animal costumes lurking). As for pasta, make mine Garozzo's or Accurso's Main Street Deli - both family-friendly and anniversary-dinner delicious.

So there are my choices. All local. All great food. And all kid-friendly.

So which places did I miss??
