KC - Golden Ox permanently closed

KC-Jane | Nov 10, 200302:39 AM     8

Both Golden Ox locations -- in the old stockyard by Kemper Arena and in Overland Park -- closed this weekend without advanced notice to staff and customers.

The owners said the closings were permanent due to the bad economy and fewer people dining out.

I wonder if someone will buy the stockyards location lease and the name and attempt to keep the history going. Would be a real shame to lose it after 54 years.

They lasted out the bulk of the annual American Royal when they always did a booming business. But apparently they couldn't hold off closing any longer.
