Someone posted about these chips a few wks ago. I'm a huge fan of dark chips, so I tracked these down and am happy to report that they're among the best potato chips I've ever tasted. They're not dark because they're cooked longer, but rather because they're made from russett potatoes, which have a higher sugar content. Also, they're cooked in lard, not oil -- always the sign of a superior chip.
The good news is that you can order some for yourself by calling 800-THE-CHIP; the bad news is that the minimum order is one case, which is particularly problematic given that lard-fried chips have a shorter shelf life than conventional chips. Personally, I say it's worth it (gobble up as many as you can, give some away as gifts, etc.); your mileage may vary.
