Kaveri restaurant ...buffet update (Sacramento)

janet of reno | Aug 30, 200502:20 AM

Last Friday we flew from San Diego to Sacramento, and then were driving to Bodega Bay for a weekend of relaxation...but hubby wanted to detour to the Fair Oaks area on a work-related errand. Since he knew I would squawk that we were on vacation, he appeased me by promising me a stop at Kaveri. I've posted on the South Indian dishes here before, but I'm not sure I've commented on the buffet. Anyway, its one of the best Indian buffets around. There are lots of choices (over 20 dishes) including several South Indian choices (idli, sambar, etc). Everything is fresh; the good crowd at lunch I'm sure helps (lots of turnover....). BTW, they make a great rasaam...don't miss it! I say check it out. For $23 including tax, tip, and two cups of chai we ate more than we thought we could...and were happily stuffed all day! Kaveri is in a little strip mall on the east side of Fulton, a few blocks north of Northrup. You might also check out the Indian grocery next door, also called Kaveri.
