Katmandu Spice Top to Bottom

StriperGuy | Mar 10, 2008 05:33 AM

9 Hounds hit Katmandu spice last night and gave the whole menu a good once over. Got to say the food really stood up to the punishment ;-).

Momos, Golden Gobi (cauliflower balls), Aloo Achar (typical Nepali potato dish), Aloo Tama (bamboo shoots and potatoes), goat curry, mutton meatballs, eggplant, lamb biryani, quail with a minty cilantro-y sauce, and we tried the custard, Dudbari (cheese balls), and the Sagarmatha (fried banana) for dessert.

General comment was that every single dish was tasty, well seasoned and unique. Not an off note in the whole dinner, and every single dish stood well on it's own. Really superb.

Added note they have a very nice and reasonable wine list. We had the Hopler Gruner Vetliner which was so good a few hounds vowed to track it down in Boston.

Considering the significant amount of food and wine we had, and 5 or so bottles of wine it was quite a bargain at $37 pp including tip.

Everyone said they would hit it again in a heartbeat.
