Katana-Ya (by ACT & Curran Theatre), SF report

I went to Katana-Ya because it was in 7x7 Magazine 100 things to eat in SF before you die. It's also across the street from ACT Theatre & Curran Theatre where I was going to see "Next To Normal". It's on Geary & Mason, not very far from Union Square & Powell St.

I got there about 6:05pm and there was a line for a table. I went inside, and one of the workers told me to sign in on their waiting list outside. I did and only had to wait about 10 minutes to eat at the bar. I got the last seat at the bar closest to the bathroom. The place is really tiny and cramped.

I got the Chasu Ramen which is on the 7x7 list. I asked for hot tea & iced water - got both FREE. Chasu ramen came out in about 5 minutes. It looks like a big bowl, but it's not really. Some ramen, for broth I picked Miso which is pretty rich, about 3 big pieces of roasted pork I thought was a bit tough, some bamboo shoots, & green onions.

I thought the Chasu Ramen was ok, but pricey at $11 before tip & tax. Charged it.

They have sushi, curry rice, udon, & soba.

Place gets really warm inside even on a cold day. Bathroom: one unisex in the very back.
