kasha fantasy?

does anyone serve nutty, steamy, savory kasha varnishkes with a mushroom sauce that's rich--that someone cared deeply about? or is it all just blandish groaty forgetfulness with melted brown crayon and waxy bowties? i'm just about ready to give up and invent this dish in my kitchen. should i wake up, or is there hope?
