Two recent visits to Karam (4th Ave just north of 86th St.)convince me that this shop continues to offer some of the most delicious food in Brooklyn. If you havent visited yet, you should.
MOst recently my son and I took out and split a chicken shwarma and a lamb shwarma - both moist and wonderful, with bits of the pink radish/turnip pickles and we suffered on the long car ride home with the fragrance wafting up to us. The chicken is dominated by its garlic sauce, the lamb has more of a mix of herbs and garlic. We actually preferred the lamb but both of them were totally delicious. I am less thrilled by the mezze - go for these wonderful meats!
ps - there is a corner restaurant now on 5th Ave around 81st(?) called Mazza with a sign that says the "famous Mr. Karam of Bay Ridge" is cooking there now - does anyone know anything about this place? It smelled good but I didnt have time to stop.
