Just a quick review as this restaurant is frequently talked about here.
We decided yesterday we needed to go out to celebrate Leap Day. It was a beautiful day which promised a beautiful evening so we wanted to go somewhere we could sit outside. Originally we thought of House of Tricks but it'd been a long time since we last visited Kai and as Leap Day doesn't roll around often seemed like a great option. The patio is small though but we thought we'd give them and call and see.
It was late when we hatched this plan, around 5 but we were pleasantly surprised that they said they could accomodate us on the patio at 6:45. Being only 15 minutes away this would be easy to make.
Heading over we dropped the top on the car and enjoyed the short but pleasant drive over as the sun began to set. There are only three tables on the small patio but all offer a very pleasant view of the resort grounds, the reservation, and the mountains. The sunset was gradually waning and it was quite lovely as we settled in to relax and enjoy the evening.
Everything was wonderful as usual. Between us we had the hand picked lettuce salad, the toca squash soup, the buffalo tenderloin and the loup de mer. For dessert we split the chocolate mole souffle. Everything was perfectly prepared with lots of interesting flavor. Service was attentive and superb yet mostly unobtrusive. The pace was perfectly relaxed.
Really a wonderful evening. If you haven't made what is for most of you the trek out here yet, do try to...particularly during this gorgeous spring weather.
