Stopped in today for their weekend buffet lunch, $10. Agree with previous posters--this is the real deal, no dumbing down or blanding out. Good homestyle food. They had 2 braised chicken dishes--chicken curry and the spicier pepper chicken (which had that day-glo tandoori hot pink color, assume they started with tandoori chicken), vegetarian and chicken biryanis, nan, uppma, and braised eggplant. My favorite was the eggplant, the flavor reminded me of spicy eggplant oil pickle (an acquired taste, for me anyway). Dessert was fruit salad--canned cocktail and bananas in a custard sauce. Inoffensive. Fried snacks and pastries were available for more $. And the full menu is apparently available as well, I saw a sheek kebab and paratha go by that looked good.
The room is tiny (seats 20 max, if they're hiding more chairs someplace) and while worn and a little shabby, looked respectably clean to me.
Thanks you, hounds. I would never have known about it otherwise. Time for another check to Chowhound.
