Given the need to support restaurants that are hurting due to recent events, I want to share my favorite Pakastani restaurant in the south bay. Kabab and Curry is located on the ground floor of a converted fourplex in a residental neighborhood in Santa Clara. Inside there are a number of new-looking wood tables, a few posters, and a bumper sticker reminding you to read the Koran. The menu is called "the variable" for some reason (it doesn't appear to ever change), and is pretty limited. There is tandoori chicken, a few meat and vegetable curries, and naan, with everything in the $3-$6 range. The tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, and naan are what you want to try. Prepare to wait- the service is horribly slow and everything is cooked to order. Getting water to drink can also be difficult. But the wait is worth it when you try the moist, perfectly spiced chicken, and hot-from-the-oven naan, slightly blistered with the perfect amount of chewiness. The meat curries are pretty good, but are not standouts, and the vegetable curries are remarkable mostly because they contain no traces of oil. Overall, I prefer Kabab and Curry to places like Shalimar in SF (except for the curries). The restuarant is at 1498 Isabella. Isabella is a small street the intersects with El Camino near Scott.
