The Hollywood branch of Sanamluang cafe is truly a gamble when it comes to most of their dishes (especially anything involving broth or seafood). But one dish, which i never see anyone order, remains consistent each and every time i have it. The Ka Nom Pak Kard, in the vegetarian section of the menu, may very well be the best of the restaurants extensive dishes. It's described as radish rice biscuits stir fried (in sweet dark soy and copious amounts of oil) with green onion, bean sprouts, and egg. They serve it with sriracha sauce on the side. What i find interesting about this dish is that i've never seen it at any other thai restuarant, and the radish rice biscuits, which are essentially rectangles of a starchy white substance with a distinct flavor not particularly radishy, slightly crisp on the outside, are not found in any other dish at the restaurant. Is anyone familiar with dish? Found a better version somewhere else? Know the composition of these elusive radish rice biscuits? (I'd imagine rice flour and root vegatable).
