Went to Ka Ga Ya last night, decent but fairly casual Shabu Shabu place in Japantown. It was a perfectly respectable meal, but the tab came out to $100 for two, and we didn't even get the premium meats. Yet the place is completely packed. Is there some tradition of price gouging at Shabu Shabu restaurants?
I think I prefer Korean shabu shabu anyway. It's tastier and one third the price at Seoul Garden.
