I just returned from a trip to England where we ate at the Jumble Room in Grasmere. I had thier lamb special, which was very good. My husband wasn't too hungry so he just had a bowl of soup. The soup was good too, but I wouldn't say spectacular. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding with custard. I should preface this by saying this is the first time either of us had had sticky toffee pudding. But this dessert was amazing! It was the culinary highlight of our trip. The flavors were complex and interesting and the sweetness was PERFECT. A lot of desserts are too sweet and others are not sweet enough. This was perfection. I have been dreaming about this dessert ever since I've had it. (On a side note, does anyone have a recipe similar to the Jumble Room's?) The serving size was not skimpy either. It wasn't huge but it was certainly big enough for the 2 of us to share. If I ever return to the Lake District, at the top of my list will be a meal at the Jumble Room!
