My daughter picked me up to rush to the airport Friday night for a whirlwind girl's weekend at Disneyland: and had dinner with her: a burger from Julie's Healthy Cafe, a place in Berkeley that she says serves a combination of American favorites using halal meats, and Thai food. J shared the burger with me as a pre-dinner snack, since dinner in SoCal would be quite late.
I have vague recollections of hearing about this place, but googling it reveals no CH posts. Still, I have to say, that was one excellent burger despite the fact that it had gotten cold from being transported from Berkeley to Oakland, and was cooked to daughter's preferred medium well (which is much too cooked for my taste). It was still juicy and flavorable with a really nice charcoal grilled taste. Indeed, one of the better burgers I've tasted in awhile, so I plan to go to the source to try one hot off the grill for myself.
Any comments on other options here? How is the Thai food?
