I was pulling my favorite cigarette cookies off the shelf at Bristol Farms last night (actually two boxes) when a box labeled "Jules Destrooper Almond Thins" caught my eye. The box looked somewhat old-fashioned, white with blue lettering and had three brown rectangular cookies studded with almonds pictured on the front. Since I was in the mood for crisp and buttery, I put a box in my basket. Today I opened the box... they are delicious! Faintly sweet, crisp, very thin, with a taste of browned butter... anyone else tried these before? They're also made with only 5 ingredients: flour, sugar, butter, almonds and salt. No weird chemicals or hydrogented shortening, which is always a plus, as far as I'm concerned.
