JSIX in need of a major FIX

I have been hesitant to post on our JSIX experience. Not sure why exactly. Maybe because the food was pretty good but the service was absolutely awful :(

Started the night with Flat bread. Good but not great. Next I had the corn soup and found it to be good but alittle thick for my taste. My hubby had a seafood cocktail and enjoyed it very much. So far so good....well-until it took OVER an hour to get our entrees to us. We are patient since we are out on a date away from our little cuties so we are in NO HURRY! One hour with only 30 guests in the restaurant is unacceptable. This is when our night turns ugly. Our waitress did not offer us more water (which we could not do ourselves since the bottle was not on the table) and we were not offered more wine. After we finished our entree and they sat on our table for 10 minutes or so the restaurant manager finally cleared our table but not without the "we are done" look from us to get him to our table. The restaurant is very attractive and clean looking so when the manager is dressed sloppy with his shirt unbuttoned and chest hair hanging out not to mention his pager hanging of his belt loop I was put off. The entrees were good but I felt the food concept bounced around and did not flow with the visual appearance of the restaurant. When our server took our dessert order she was hanging on the side of our booth. I find this to be rude and arrogant but I think she was just a newbie and not very seasoned. Again, professionalism in this place is lacking.

While waiting for our desserts the hostess went missing for 20minutes with the restaurant manager along with the entire kitchen staff. We could hear the staff laughing hysterically in the open kitchen but could not see them because they were all hidden behind some sort of station. This was at 8:30 in the evening and we found ourselves growing more frustrated because we realized it took them over an hour for our entree and 20+minutes for our desserts because the staff is screwing around. When everyone appeared back on the floor the hostess was walking down the steps in front of our table kicking her heels up and clapping. She was doing a cheerleading move. We had a nice laugh but found the staff to be bored and unprofessional. Finally, our server delivered our desserts but my better half had excused himself to use the restroom. The server still delivered the desserts which is not appropriate but the kicker was he was having ice cream. Common sense would tell you to wait for the guest to return to his seat before you serve ice cream. I had the brownie. Sounds boring and it was but it was the only chocolate dessert on the menu. It was almost frozen which tells me it was made the day before. I would skip the desserts. When our server came back to check on us before acknowledging us she was hanging on the side of the booth chatting with another staff member and said "that sucks". She walked away and never asked us if we were in need of anything.

I wish we had a better report on our experience at JSIX but we do not. My husband and I enjoyed the food and had a great laugh at the expense of the staff. The sad thing is being a Kimpton Managed Hotel (not owned) Bill Kimpton (rest his soul) would be appalled at this evening. Many of his restaurants have received Beard House awards..this one would not!
