Finally made it over to the newish Joy Luck Place in downtown San Mateo last night for a late night light dinner. My husband had Shrimp Wonton Noodle and I had Shui Kau Noodle (some kind of shrimp dumpling) and we shared an appetizer of Seasonal Vegetable with Oyster Sauce, which happened to be tender greens.

Everything was delicious and service was very good. The open kitchen is a nice touch and the space is light and airy. The restaurant will get even bigger when they expand into the site next door, which I guess should be soon.

But the main plus for is us that they are open from 11:00 am to Midnight, daily; I don't think there's *anywhere* in San Mateo with hours like that. What a welcome addition to the downtown San Mateo dining scene.
