Joy Luck in Oakland revisited

yimster | Jun 4, 2004 11:29 PM

We visited Joy Luck in Oakland yesterday later for lunch about 2:30 PM after the dim sum servers had already left. But the Manager was very helpful by offering us a list where they would steam us fresh dim sum to offer. Very nice offer but we had something else in mind.

I think that I had said earlier that they had a $4.99 menu of entrées. I have always wanted to try it.

We order the following dishes:

Steamed fresh Oysters with Black Bean sauce. Huge oysters the biggest of the two were at least 6” long. The best dish we had.

Deep Fried Quails 3, spilt, a little dry but very nicely done.

Large Deep Fried Pork Intestines, Mrs. Yimster said ChowFun will b e upset he is missing this. Very crisp and fresh.

Finally we had a dish of Garlic Stir Fried Large Pea Shoots. Tender and good. This was not one of the $4.99 dishes. This one cost $9.00, well in line with reason.

I am glad that this interesting place can cook entrée dishes along with dim sum.

With the tip the cost was less than $40.00,

This list is in Chinese only. I will have to work on the translation along with Ming Diner in San Francisco.

As we left I notice that they had sealed off one of the dining room to play MJ.
