Josh Slocum's - Reasonable & Entertaining Meal on the Water

We were bored last night & decided to check out Josh Slocum's (Dennis Rodman's) Dinner/Supper Club. Very empty early (no surprise). Has a table for two (actually more of a bar table for two, but that was ok) right by window overlooking the harbor. Loved the decor - very ecletic & plush. Excellent service if you don't mind gorgeous waitresses in mini skirts, mini tops & platform buckle dominatrix style boots (husband was not complaining...) - they came around with complimentary hors d' oeuvres - shrimp, ahi rolls, mussels, calamari, etc, which were ok, but a bit cold.

Now the reasonable part comes in - total bill came to $99 for two - we had:

1 bottle Ferrari Carrano Chardonnay ($46 I think)
1 seared ahi appetizer ($10)
1 shrimp cockatil ($10)
1 prime rib dinner ($20) - we split this & it was just a huge portion of meat - brought it home & even after splitting, have plenty left over for sandwiches for the Green Bay game today. Came with al dente veggies (asparagus & carrots), a really nice orzo (they called it rice) pilaf & horseradish sauce.
1 glass Coppola Diamond merlot ($10)

Was fun people-watching (yes, Dennis was there). Food was good, if not stellar, but where else can you get this much food & good service in such beautiful surroundings on the water in Newport. Worth a try if you're hungry & like to check out what's happening at the bar at the same time! Didn't hang around for all the action, but maybe some day when I've had a nap...
