Joisey - Questions about rabbits and pine cones . . .

There's a multitude of rabbits in my friend's
New Jersey backyard. If I had the nerve to
kill one, would it be good (and/or safe) to eat?
Also, the yard is surrounded by pine trees
that are sprouting new green pine cones. Is that
where pignoli nuts come from? If I climb up
there and gather some could I harvest some pignolis,
combine them with basil, olive oil and garlic and make pesto? (Anyone in the mood for barbequed rabbit with some spagetti and pesto sauce on the side?)
