Hit Johnnie's Pastrami on Sepulveda up after a day of fishing the surf at Venice Beach. (Fishing discoveries: barred surf perch right now taste like iodine. On the other hand, fresh-caught trout fried in bacon are good, in much the same way that a beautiful woman who makes you laugh and loves you is good.) I was cold and wet and hungry.

Pastrami: very good. (Am aware that Langer's is probably better. Have not yet gone to Langer's. Everytime I head down there suddenly I have a craving for good pupusas and end up at Atlacatl. Don't know why.)

Real special thing: the homemade pickles that come on the side. Man. Oh man. Crispy and clean, sweet, long flavor. Best pickles I've had in a long time. maybe ever. Coming into those pickles after a mouthful of savory, dripping, salty pastrami is like, I don't know, being clean after being dirty.

I think I've stopped making sense. Good night.
