John Ambrose, Westchester restaurateur, dies! R.I.P.

gutreactions | Sep 19, 201907:18 AM

He relished the restaurant business, John Ambrose did. Over his long career, he opened the original Crab Shanty in Mamaroneck, since closed. And followed along with long-time partner/restaurateur Sam Chernin to open Seaside Johnnie's in Rye, then Pier Restaurant & Tiki Bar in Rye. I had known John for more than 30 years, and was the recipient of his kindness on many occasions. He will be missed as a restaurant man and unique individual. He suddenly passed away this past week. R.I.P., John. My condolences to his family and many friends.
