Joey's in Pomona

We wanted to try the Pomona Valley Mining Company but after we got seated nobody came to our table for 20 minutes. When a waitress finally came over, she said "Oh sorry, I didn't see you there" This even after she walked by our table at least ten times during those twenty minutes. We got up, talked to the manager who was a great help and walked out. Please note the last sentence is dripping in sarcasm.

We went to Joey's Bar-B-Q in Pomona for dinner. Joey is a very large restaurant in the Antique Row section of downtown Pomona.

There is a daily special that included, a quarter chicken, sliced beef, one beef rib and two pork ribs with beans and garlic bread for $12.95. Which which seemed like a great deal and so that's what I ordered. First this isn't "real" barbeque. There is no smoke flavor or that red ring of smoke on the meat. But with that said, Joey's food is very good. The sliced beef was this 8in long, 1/2in thick, piece of beef. Lots of good flavor especially with their barbeque sauce. The quarter chicken was good and moist. The pork ribs were OK. The beef ribs were some of the best I've had in a long time. Their sauce is so good, I bought a bottle to use when I fire up the weber.

Now my girlfriend ordered their beef ribs. They have a beef rib dinner ($15.95) and a beef rib lunch ($9.75). Dinner you get 3 ribs, lunch you get 2 ribs. Dinner includes a baked potato and either corn or beans. Lunch you get two sides. While the beef ribs were very good and I enjoyed them, I don't see why one extra rib would cost so much more. I think the lunch beef rib, which is served all day is much better valve. She liked the beef ribs though not as much as I did.

I would certainly go back. But would like to try their other two locations in Chino and Upland.
