I moved to Ridgewood, Queens recently, and checked chowhound to find the good eats. There's been a lot of discussion about Joe's Restaurant on Forest Ave., and here's my two cents: mediocre. (Okay, that was only one cent.)
I was there with four other people, and we made a point of ordering many different items. There were some good points -- the sausage & pepper dinner was quite yummy --but overall it was blandy-bland-bland.
They've recently moved into larger digs, fancier and cleaner. Their old location is still open, and I will try a meal there. The owner told me that three of the four cooks left there to work in the new location, so perhaps that fourth cook is the one who makes the magic.
