I found this place years ago on the recommendation of a locksmith friend. The burgers are perfect and they really do taste like a ground up steak. Probably the best burger I've had in California. The shakes/ malts are perfect!
Now to the gripes:
- The fries. They suck. I don't know why. They're just blah, flavorless potatoes in need of salt & ketchup.
- Plastic plates & cutlery?!? Joe's is NOT cheap and for the price, I think they could afford plates and silverware and to hire a dishwasher. I'd much rather have it wrapped in paper than that plastic.
FYI: Erik's Favorite burgers:
1) Steak N Shake
2) White Castle
3) Joe's Cable Car
4) Murder Burger in Davis, CA (now called Redrum Burger)
5) In N Out
5) Any of the Tommy's / Tomy's / Big Tommy's / Big Tomy's in L.A. that serve the chili double cheeseburgers.
[Can you tell I'm from the Midwest?!?]
