So after having been to JK Wine Bar about a month ago and being very impressed, I decided to go there last week for dinner on a monday. Not too busy, so the service was attentive and the food was great. Only complaint being that several dishes seemed to be overseasoned and the portions seemed smaller than before. On the whole however, a nice experience.
HOWEVER, today was a different story. The portions were even smaller (?), the food still oversalted, and the service was terrible!! Here are some highlights:
1. after being served the fourth dish our server asked us: "what else was it that you ordered? the mussels...and?" to which i replied "yes the mussels and the veal" him: "and the coq au vin?" me: "we just ate the coq au vin. also we ordered the cheese for the end too" him: "you want the cheese now? i was going to serve it at the end but i can give it to you now if that's what you want!" to which i said no thanks and he walked off in a huff...
2. my father wanted to order another glass of wine to go with his mussels. the 3oz was listed as 3.50 and when my dad ordered it the server said "actually the price is listed wrong (pulls out the wine list), here you can see it is actually 5.30 not 3.50" it seems to me here that if there is a mistake in the menu, it is their job to offer it to us for 3.50? i work at a cheap clothes store and even we would do that with no questions asked.
3. dessert time. we order some dessert and my parents order espresso. but unfortunately the coffee machine is not working! so normal coffee for them. i order tea but apparently "the machine isn't giving very hot water right now". if i may.. WTF?? boil a small pot of water and put a tea bag in it! anything!
4. just general awkwardness! i'm sure if we would have gone to the keg across the street we would have had infinitely better service! sheeshhh.
ok so there you go.
the food was nice but unfortunately spoiled by the really weird service. sorry guys but if you go there, be careful of who serves you or you'll be hot waterless!
