Last Saturday morning I went to Jin Fong for dim sum. Having only been to smaller venues in Philly, I was absolutely shocked at the sheer size of this place -- a football field indeed. We (party of 2) were seated at the far left as you enter the room. We arrived at 11:20, and left around 12:15. At about noon, a manager started positioning rolling dividers to block off our section. We were able to obtain a good selection of dim sum before we felt as if they were hinting for us to leave. Several other parties arrived at 11:45 in our section and I'm not sure that they were able to have a quality experience -- i.e. lack of carts towards noon.
Prior to leaving, we "used the facilities" and I noticed a very elaborate buffet station right outside of the restrooms serving lots of different seafood options. I noticed several people walking up with their checklists and receiving food. My question is, do you request to be seated in that area? Is that for the "later" crowd? We seemed to have missed this portion being seated at the other end.
I can only assume that they were sectioning off our area for a private party as the lobby was packed with people waiting when we left.
Any thoughts or other experiences? I really liked this place, and found the dim sum options more varied than most.
