Jimmy's Downtown

Nor'easter | Feb 8, 2005 03:40 PM

Reported by the Daily Deal:

"Jimmy's Downtown, run by Bronx restaurateur Jimmy Rodriguez, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, eight months after the 57th Street eatery was shut for a makeover that never materialized.

"The restaurant, at 400 E. 57th St., was the last eatery opened by Mr. Rodriguez, who opened trendy nightspot Jimmy's Bronx Cafe near Yankee Stadium more than a decade ago but closed it in 2003. In recent years, the entrepreneur opened and closed two other restaurants--Jimmy's City Island and Jimmy's Uptown. When Jimmy's Downtown was shuttered last summer, he insisted it would return in the fall with a new look."
