I heard through friends that there is in fact a place that sells Jian Bing Guo Zi somewhere in Los Angeles. I'm beginning to wonder if it is a myth, though since my friends have only 'heard' and cannot confirm exactly where it has been sold. I've checked a few of the local Chinese breakfast places in the SGV without success.
Since I don't know the transliteration for Jian Bing Guo Zi, I would describe it as a savory crepe with eggs, cilantro, sesame seeds, and spicy paste wrapped up around some sort of crispy fried wafer or doughnut. Regionally, the ingredients vary though...Here's a video showing how it's made:
Am I out of the loop? I know Chowhound has a handful of people who've been to China...I'm hoping someone can help me out so that I may enjoy one of the things I miss most from China!
