Jewel of India Saturday Lunch Report

We went yesterday and ordered off the menu instead of the buffet which did not look appetizing to me at all. There was very little variety in it. We ordered a mixed appetitzer which had cheese, onions, green peppers. It was OK, but the cheese was kind of smoked and hard. My least favorite item. Entrees were lamb fish and peas and cheese, white rice with nan and nan with sliced lamb. All dishes were very heavy with sauces so you could mix in either rice or the nan. It was OK, but Indian is far from my favorite cuisine. Also wanted to mention that service was very good. Water and iced tea constantly refilled. All entrees were divided up with ladles of sauce, nan and rice put on the table for sharing.

We picked it more for location than anything else. We really wanted to be on West 44th Street and many options are closed for Sat. lunch which makes eating bef. theater difficult.

RGR: Gaby is also closed for Sat. lunch. I called up 3 places bef. giving up and asking my friend to pick. She came up with Jewel of India.
