I can get great biscuits, ribs, pies and fried green tomatoes...but, forget getting a decent sub sandwich in Birmingham, AL. With no east coast travel plans in sight, yet craving a delicious sub. I need guidance putting together my own. Is the secret the bread? Can I make a mock version of the subs I loved as a kid from what I can find at the grocery store in Alabama? Is there a place that will "overnight" me a sub (I'd go to the airport to pick it up!) Would anyone give me direction on what I should put on my sub - and what kind of bread should I get?
