jeffs gourmet sausages on pico in the kosher belt

modernist | Sep 20, 200505:02 AM

checked out jeffs gourmet on pico west of robertson.
we had a chili hamburger (about 5.50), a beef and lamb merguez sausage sandwich (about 4.50), french fries, a pickle (a buck) and a coke. total bill 16 bucks.

the hamburger was interesting. not as good as i was expecting after being highly recommended by the nice folks at magic carpet. it tasted like hamburgers do in asia (the texture and the spicing). the patty(which i was told was chuck steak thats ground daily) was of a very fine grind and dense and almost the consistency of what a processed patty might feel like.

the merguez was quite tasty. not as herbaceous or spicy as i might like but very tasty. it was cradled in a great roll and topped with a mediterranean tasting chopped cucumber and parsley type salad.

fries were fresh but nothing special. pickle was crisp and good. very friendly service. packed at 7:30pm.
