Jeanne D'Arc followup/review

Pointybird | Feb 28, 200512:44 PM     1

OK, so I had the prix fixe dinner at Jeanne D'Arc in the Hotel Cornell last week and I promised I'd post about it, so here we are! The prix fixe was a great deal at $29, but I've had better French food in town (particuarly the prix fixe deal at the Metro on Divis at Page -- supoib!). The meal started with a cream soup, asparagus, which livened up when I added salt but tasted more of cream than the veggie. This was then followed by the best course: a nice salad with chicken in a tarragon dressing and lovely hearts of romaine with a zippy viniagrette. After that I chose the pork "medallions" with mushroom sauce, they were more chops than medallions and were a bit tough and dry, served with kinda bland roasted tomatoes and potatoes. The dessert was a chocolate souffle with orange, tasty, but still chilly from the fridge. They only had two wines by the glass, a red and a white, and they were ok but nothing special. I'll probably stick to the Metro in the future!
