Jay Bee's in Cypress is now Mike's

Looks like the ownership of Jay Bee's in Cypress has changed hands and the place is now called Mike's. Went there tonight for pork ribs and noticed the name change on the sign, plus none of the usual staff. I'm not sure if the Gardena location has changed hands as well.

The pork ribs were still very good, but there were some subtle differences. The meat tasted more smoky and the smoke ring (pink color) was more evident, which is an improvement. The sauce, however, wasn't as good. I ordered my usual medium and there was no trace of heat, unlike before. May have to upgrade to hot next time (the former hot was too spicy and detracted from the meat's flavor). The sauce also seemed more greasy.

The sides were about the same, except the sauce for the beans was more sticky than saucy. Still tasted the same though.

I'll have to go back and see how the brisket (which was Jay Bee's strongest attribute) fares, as well as the greens. Time will tell whether it's an improvement, a decline, or business as usual.
