Just when I thought Main Street in Seal Beach had more coffee places than any other 3-block stretch on earth, along comes Javatini. It puts all the others to shame. Beans are roasted fresh daily, in small batches, in an air roaster. This eliminates the burnt beans that settle in the bottom of the drum roasters, and also blows all the chaff off of the beans. Dave, one of the owners, roasted a pound of green Kenya beans for me while I waited and watched the process(only 15 minutes!) The latte I enjoyed while waiting (and am still enjoying as I write this) is full bodied, dark, and totally non-acidic. A clean, deep coffee taste prevails (rather than milk as at Starbuck's). As a bonus, they're just two doors from Slice of NY Pizza.
