Jasmine House -- major MMM

Hello friends! Thoughts I'd post a quick review of my bird-day dinner at Jasmine House.

The food was really incredibly good, easily Thanh Long's equal which makes sense becuase I believe the same family owns both.

Catfish in claypot -- exceptional deep-caramel sauce and a succulent, juicy fish.

Pan-fried tofu -- A bit salty but luscious, dense tofu.

Summer rolls -- very very fresh, filled with a sauteed veggie remoulade that made them unusual and a bit spicy. Perfect for a warm summer night!

Garlic noodles -- Though I found the noodles to be a tad mushy, they certainly had a pleasantly pungent garlic hit everyone at the table loved.

Ginger squid -- Easily the best squid I've had; tender instead of chewy and assertively gingery.

Eggplant coconut curry -- I believe I am still tasting this dish in my mind as I write this. Um. MM. Very thick and flavorful curry sauce on perfectly-cooked, non-slimy eggplant.

Service was a bit slow but friendly. We followed up the meal with a nice long walk in the perfect warm weather down to Toy Boat for some VERY unexceptional chocolate cake. Dammit, I hate paying $4 for a slice of stale cake that tastes like a fridge. Almost sent it back but we were having so much fun I didn't want to spoil it. Altogether, a divine birthday full of food, luscious weather and giggles. Yay!
