Following the lead of James G and Marty L, I met up with a few folks at Jasmine Garden on Gallows Rd at Rte 50 in Falls Church.
There's some mighty fine slow cookin' going on out here. We wound up with two identical preparations, duck from heaven and braised pork shoulder. Both were wonderful, but the pork won out in flavor and meatiness.
The boiled beef casserole, a sichuan dish, was powerful and excellent. A mountain of freshly minced garlic made for a satisfying aftertaste.
Aside from that, I can't say I'd rush back for the other items we tried, ordered from the back page of the menu or from the special board: the lilybuds with asparagus (all stalk), eggplant with basil, a whole fish with an embarrasing sweet and sour sauce, and the sour noodle soup.
This would be a good place to take the non-Chowhound for the braised pork, but they'll have to fight you for it.
