Jarrett's, Memphis

For years, our anniversary dinners have been at my friend George Fall's Paulette's Restaurant in Overton Square. I've known George since he was the first executive intern hired by Holiday Inns, shortly after his graduation from Ole Miss.

Paulette's is one of the finer dining places in Memphis. Has been since it's opening about 1975. Even my Danish in-laws, when they visit each September, had had their anniversary dinners at Paulette's.

So, George, forgive me if, only for a change, we went to Jarrett's Restaurant, 5629 Quince (immediately west of I-240) for this year's anniversary.

There is "going out to eat."
And there is "a dining experience."

Put Jarrett's in the latter category !!

My wife had pork tenderloins, and with that came a sweet potato dish that was blended with a cream sauce. Utterly delicious.

And I being a seafood lover, was disappointed they didn't have my favorite -- stuffed flounder.

But I ordered Mahi Mahi with a crabmeat laden sauce on top, that coming over a bedding of risotto.

Out of this world!

As was the opener -- heart of artichoke salad. And the dessert -- creme brulle.

Our server, Bob, was attentive from the time we walked in until we walked out, despite the fact his station was filled with customers. He got one of my all-time highest tips.

Might have to start alternating anniversary dinners now between Paulette's and Jarrett's.

At both, bring two credit cards. Ain't cheap.
