So I was walking to my car from work and passed Blackbird & Avec and noticed that the brown paper was finally down on this new rest. So I stopped in to get a menu.
They didn't have one that I could take so I sat at the C shaped bar and checked the hard wood menu out. It is not cheap!
I saw the 3 sushi chefs at the end of the room and figured that it was going to be yet another sushi rest. (with at least three others within walking distance down Randolph, Starfish is the best for the money IMO) but then I noticed that they had a ton of very cool "cooked" items and things that I had never heard of before.
So I decided to stay and try one of the many apps. I got a manager recommened pork cutlet that was tempuraed and then sauteed with a scrambled egg, scallion and some kind of exotic spice mixture, and finished with a light ponzu sauce with intense fresh cracked pepper - Very good.
Since that was so good I thought I would try another one, and had a tuna dish that was also really good. Then thought I'd try the sashimi to test the fish and the O Toro was 7 bucks a piece, ouch, but sooo good it melted in my mouth.
So I ended up eating dinner there and thought that it was somewhere that everyone would enjoy testing out. Expensive but try anything that is different.
FYI, the credit card POS isn't working until Thursday so bring your cash along with your booze.
