Japanese knife identification

1bcervin | Nov 28, 201708:43 PM

Hey everyone. Thank you in advance. This is my first post and I was hoping someone could help me identify a knife I recently inherited from a relative that recently passed. It has some Japanese lettering and a stamp below that says “Made in Japan”. The handle appears to be a hard wood with the tang set into it and a black collar around the top of the handle. The handle is an oval shape. The closest resembling knife I was able to research online was an Artisugu in terms of looks. This knife came from Maui if that helps. There was also a Shun that came with it but those are easy to I.D. Thank you again!
